8 Interesting Question and Answer - One must know, Before getting married/involve in materialistic life. 

This is not just for Hindus. All human born should know this.

Narada muni asked these 8 questions to the sons of daksha prajapati named as "Haryasvaas".

  1. There is a kingdom where only one man lives (rest all are women). Do you know that man? (कथं स्रक्ष्यथ वै प्रजा:)
  2. There is a Cave hole thru' which, once entered, can never come out. Do you know that Cave hole? (अद‍ृष्ट्वा अन्तं भुवो यूयं)
  3. There is a woman who have multiple faces. Do you know her? (बहुरूपां स्त्रियं)
  4. That women like an unchaste women (prostitute) gets attracted to many male, but also have her own husband. Who is that husband?  (पुमांसं पुंश्चली पतिम्)
  5. There is a river flowing in both directions. Do you know that river? (नदीम् उभयतो वाहां)
  6. There is a wonderful home, made of twenty-five different materials. Do you know that? (पञ्च पञ्च अद्भ‍ुतं गृहम्)
  7. There is a swan that vibrates various sound (हंसं चित्रकथं). what is that sound? why Swan? 
  8. There is an object made of sharp edges that revolve automatically (क्षौर-पव्यं स्वयं भ्रमि).. What is that?





Narada answered these question as below, to enlighten Haryasvas who were planning to enter materialistic pleasures and getting married and having child.

1. There is a kingdom where only one man lives. Do you know that man? (कथं स्रक्ष्यथ वै प्रजा:)

Answer: The only one man who lives everywhere in his kingdom is that bhagavan vishnu.

(भगवान् स्व आश्रय: पर: तम् अद‍ृष्ट्वा अभवं पुंस:)

One who can't be controlled of time, material and birth/death and protector is purusha (male). Why Vishnu is considered as only purush. To know more, read here

2. There is a hole from which, having entered, no one emerges. Do you know that hole? (अद‍ृष्ट्वा अन्तं भुवो यूयं)

Answer: The hole thru which having entered no one emerges is supreme spiritual world called vaikunda (प्रत्यग्धा धामा)


3. There is a woman who have multiple faces. Do you know her? (बहुरूपां स्त्रियं)

Answer: Intelligence is that women.

4. That women like an unchaste women (prostitute) gets attracted to many male, but also have her husband. Who is that husband?  (पुमांसं पुंश्चली पतिम्)

Answer: Intelligence behave like a prostitute and gets attracted to different Materialistic Goals. But she (intelligence) ignores her own husband named jeevatma (us / soul).


5. There is a river flowing in both directions. Do you know that river? (नदीम् उभयतो वाहां)

Answer: In this world, there is a big river flowing on one side for creation (srushti) and other side flowing for dissolution (pralaya) (सृष्टि अप्यय करीं मायां).


6. There is a wonderful home, made of twenty-five materials. What is that? (पञ्च पञ्च अद्भ‍ुतं गृहम्)

Answer: world is created with mesmerizing 25 tattva (पञ्च विंशति तत्त्वानां पुरुषो)

25 tattva = purusha + avyakta (un-manifest Prakrti) + mahath (intellect)+ ahankaara (sense of "i" or ego) + manas (mind) + 5 mahat bhoota + 5 Tan maatra + 5 sense organs + 5 action organs 


7. There is a swan that vibrates various sound (हंसं चित्रकथं). What is that sound?

Answer: vedic literature (ऐश्वरं शास्त्रम्) is that various sound. Vedic Literature talks about bhagavan and also about methods to acquire materialistic wealth. Swan is known to identify pure and impure water. It has ability to take only pure water. 

Swan is referred here to inform us, to take only the vedic sounds which talk about Bhagavan, and must ignore other materialistic vedic prayers.


8. There is an object made of sharp edges that revolve automatically (क्षौर-पव्यं स्वयं भ्रमि).. What is that?

Answer: Time (कालचक्रं) is the object revolve automatically and made of sharp razords and thunderbolts. Once time gone, it never comes back.


After hearing this from Narada, Haryasvaas decided not to involve in materialistic pleasures thru' this world and went to spiritual path to achieve moksha (vaikunda)
